Wales defender Neco Williams has penned a farewell message to Liverpool fans as his move to Nottingham Forest has been confirmed.
The two teams have agreed a fee for the 21-year-old in the region of £17million and the full-back is set to carry on his career at the City Ground.
He became increasingly marginalised at Anfield due to the form of Trent Alexander-Arnold, and with the arrival of Calvin Ramsey from Aberdeen this summer, the writing was on the wall for Williams.
Forest boss Steve Cooper has been tracking Williams for some time following his performances for Fulham last season, where he spent six months on loan. The Cottagers were initially keen on bringing him back to west London but newly-promoted Forest have now won the race.
In his goodbye post, Williams said it had been a privilege to work under Reds boss Jurgen Klopp and says he's now taking up a new challenge.
"15 years at this special club, thank you for everything @LFC," he wrote on social media. "It’s been an honour to play for this club and to play under Jurgen Klopp. But I’ve now decided to take up a new challenge.
"I wish all the team and the staff the best of luck for the future and will always continue to support the club. Thank you and never forget YNWA!!!"
Cooper says he is delighted with the capture of the Wales international.
“Despite being only 21, Neco has established himself in the Wales starting XI," said Cooper. “He’s played in the Premier League, the Champions League and in World Cup qualifiers in the last 12 months and he is a very talented right-back.
“We believe that he’s got an incredibly high ceiling and that he can play a huge role for us at Nottingham Forest in our return to the Premier League. We’re delighted to have him on board.”
