Nebraska Wants to Ban Soda, Energy Drinks and Candy From SNAP — USDA Wants Public Input

Nebraska is again asking the federal government for permission to restrict what Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program recipients can buy with their benefits, but the proposal isn’t approved yet.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Administration is accepting public comments on Nebraska’s request to exclude soda, soft drinks, energy drinks, and eventually candy from purchases made with SNAP benefits.
