Nearly three-quarters of Brits would feel 'completely lost' without closest friends

Half of adults make sure they see their closest friends at least once a week – with seven in ten saying they would feel “completely lost” without them, research has found. A poll of 2,000 adults found that Brits have known their best friend for an average of 22 years, having met at work, university, or even secondary school.

And 32 per cent message their closest pal daily, or multiple times a day – while half (49 per cent) make sure they speak to them on the phone regularly. But nearly half (46 per cent) wish they could see their dearest friends more often than they do now – with one in ten only able to see their companions less than every six months.
