Former Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has named Liverpool as the best opposition he faced during his time at the Etihad.
Kompany spent a total of 11 years operating in the Premier League, during which time he shaped up against some of the best players in the world. City and Liverpool were engaged in a thrilling battle for the title during the 2018/19 campaign.

The rivalry picked up again last season, with Pep Guardiola’s side once again piping Liverpool to the title on the final day. And now, looking back on the clashes against the Anfield club, Kompany has praised how relentless Klopp’s side were.

"They were relentless, and it made them nearly as great as our Manchester City team at the time, but we just edged it."
