Nearly 4,000 High-End Ranges Were Just Recalled—Check Your Kitchen Before Starting That DIY Renovation

Modern Luxury Kitchen
Nearly 4,000 AGA and La Cornue high-end dual-fuel ranges are under recall because a missing gas test-port cap can create a leak and fire or explosion hazard. Homeowners should check the model and serial number before moving or reconnecting a range during a kitchen renovation. (Pexels).

A dream kitchen renovation can turn stressful quickly when the centerpiece of the room is suddenly part of a safety recall. About 3,992 high-end AGA and La Cornue dual-fuel ranges sold in the United States are included in the newly announced AGA Rangemaster recall, with another 336 units sold in Canada. According to Justia’s reproduction of the September 10 recall notice, affected ranges may be missing a cap from a gas test port, potentially allowing gas to leak and creating a fire or explosion hazard.

The ranges sold for roughly $6,000 to $20,000, making this more than a routine appliance problem for homeowners building an expensive kitchen around one. If a DIY renovation is on your weekend schedule, checking the range before moving, reconnecting or building cabinetry around it should now be near the top of the list.
