Nearly 10L metric tonnes of construction debris lying across Gurgaon

GURGAON: A survey by the corporation has found that nearly 10 lakh metric tonnes of construction and demolition waste is lying in the open across the city, visible in mounds of debris littered on roadsides that are also sources of dust pollution.

MCG’s assessment also found that the city, where the booming real estate sector ensures that construction is in full throttle, generates 2,000 tonnes of C&D waste every day.

But there is just one treatment plant in Basai, which also collects this waste in a 15km radius of the facility. Beyond this, there is no agency – government or private – that collects C&D waste.
