Ndombele, Lo Celso, Reguilon, Winks transfer latest as Antonio Conte makes Tottenham exit plans

Antonio Conte's Tottenham side got their 2022/23 season off to a solid start, with a 4-1 win against Southampton on Saturday. The game saw Spurs have 18 shots at goal, with Ryan Sessegnon, Eric Dier and Dejan Kulusevski all making the scoresheet.

Conte has welcomed six new players to his squad and seen seven leave, with a number of them going out on loan. However there are still a few weeks left of the summer window and time to complete more deals, for both incomings and outgoings.

Destiny Udogie looks as though he will become a Tottenham player, with the youngster set to be loaned back to Udinese, before making the full move to N17. A number of players were left out of the squad against the Saints and it seems as though this could indicate their transfer status.

At the end of last month, Conte was questioned on the four players (Harry Winks, Tanguy Ndombele, Sergio Reguilon and Giovani Lo Celso) he left out of his squad for the pre-season tour of South Korea and what the future held for them at Spurs.

"I think that we spoke with the club and the players are informed about the plans for the next season. We are talking about really good players and the club and I, we think they deserve to play games regularly. For this reason these players are not here," he said.

As rumours continue to fly around, football.london takes a look at those who have been linked away, starting with the biggest priority exits.

Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso

The biggest priorities to get out of the door in the next few weeks are arguably Lo Celso and Ndombele. The duo both went on loan for the second half of last season. Before their moves away, neither were getting regular game time in Conte's side. Ndombele's loan didn't go as well as he would've liked, but Lo Celso did make an impact.

With the Italian having months to work with his side and adding more players to his squad, the duo would only find it more difficult to get game time. Both have shown the quality they have but have been inconsistent and just now don't seem right for a Conte side.

Ndombele and Lo Celso have both been linked with clubs across the world, but the latest is that Unai Emery may come to Tottenham's rescue and take both players. Fabrizio Romano has reported that the two are being spoken about as loan moves to Villarreal with options to buy, which could become mandatory if certain criteria is met.

This could be a good move for all parties as Spurs get the duo off their books, the players move together and hopefully show their quality in the Spanish league.

Sergio Reguilon

Another who needs to move on is Reguilon. The Spaniard produced some mixed performances last season but would struggle to get much game time, if he stayed in the capital.

Ryan Sessegnon seems to be going from strength to strength and having Ivan Perisic as not only someone to help the youngster, but also a player with real quality, is not going to help Reguilon's chances. The defender has struggled to successfully adapt from a full-back to a wing-back in Conte's system.

The 25-year-old was one of the quartet who have been left out of the Italian's squad all summer and it suggests they are not in Conte's plans for the season. Reguilon is another who has been linked with various teams abroad.

The Guardian reported that Spurs rejected interest from Brighton, but there has been interest from Barcelona and Juventus. A move abroad could also be what is best for the defender and another who would benefit from a move.

Harry Winks

Winks is an odd one. The midfielder has come up through the academy and previous comments have shown what Tottenham means to him. However it seems his Spurs chapter has come to an end. Winks has produced some solid displays, but it almost seems now that the Lilywhites have stepped up a gear and the 26-year-old hasn't.

Central midfield is another spot with plenty of competition now and given his age, Winks still has time to thrive elsewhere. The midfielder looked as though he was set to move to Everton, earlier this summer, but there seemed to be a change of heart from the Northern side and it didn't go any further.

The England international has been linked with a number of other clubs and there have even been some talks about a move to Rangers. More for the sake of his own career, Winks needs to make the move away this summer.

Bryan Gil and Pape Matar Sarr

Gil and Sarr both showed their potential in pre-season, but a loan move could be most beneficial for both this summer. Sarr only properly moved to N17 this summer, after being loaned back to Metz, after signing for Tottenham last year.

Meanwhile Gil spent the second half of last season on loan with Valencia. The duo have shown the quality they do have, but are both very young and could do with some more time away, to continue developing before their return.

A Premier League loan move for them both is likely to be the most beneficial, so Gil and Sarr can settle in to English football. However more interest seems to be coming from abroad, currently, with Romano claiming Real Sociedad and Valencia are both interested in Gil.

Sarr has sparked interest from AC Milan and it could be mean moves abroad for the duo are the most likely outcome.

Japhet Tanganga

Tanganga is probably the lowest priority to get out the door this summer. The defender was also left out of the matchday squad against the Saints, but his versatility means Conte could utilise him in the squad, if he stayed.

The 23-year-old may well want to move on, to get more regular game time then he probably would, by remaining in N17. Tanganga has also had reported interest from AC Milan and Roma. The defender's agent was spotted at Roma on Monday, as he uploaded a picture to his Instagram story.

Plenty of players who could still leave Tottenham this summer and still a few weeks for the deals to get over the line. Spurs need some more outgoings to not only ensure Conte has the most cohesive and strong side possible, but to also help the players get the best out of their careers.
