Nottingham City Transport (NCT) has announced its bus timetable for Christmas and New Year's Eve. The company has also shared detail about the schedule across the wider festive period, including over the substitute bank holidays and Christmas Eve.
Buses will not be running on Christmas Day - which this year falls on a Sunday - and Boxing Day. Buses run as normal up until Friday, December 23, and will resume as such on January 3.
Here's a summary of how bus services are operating during the Christmas and New Year period:
NCT daytime services:
- Normal weekday timetable up to and including Friday, December 23.
- Christmas Eve – Normal Saturday timetable until approx. 8pm.
- Christmas Day – No service.
- Boxing Day – No service.
- Bank holiday Tuesday, December 27 – Saturday timetable, with limited Navy 49X to/from Boots.
- Wednesday, December 28 – Saturday timetable, except on Navy 49 which will operate to Monday to Friday times.
- Thursday, December 29 – Saturday timetable, except on Navy 49 which will operate to Monday to Friday times.
- Friday, December 30 – Saturday timetable, except on Navy 49 which will operate to Monday to Friday times.
- New Year’s Eve – Normal Saturday timetable until approx. 8pm. (No NightBuses are operating).
- New Year’s Day – No Service.
- Bank Holiday Monday January 2, 2023 – Saturday timetable, with limited Navy 49X to/from Boots.
- Normal timetables resume from Tuesday, January 3
The next bank holiday is set to be on Monday, December 26 - Boxing Day. That's because the bank holiday for Christmas Day, which falls on a Sunday this year, is moving to Tuesday, December 27. A move always occurs if a bank holiday falls on a weekend.
As for the new year, well the dates are all set and the first bank holiday in 2023 will be on Monday, January 2 - a substitute day for New Year's Day, which also falls on a Sunday.
