NEW DELHI : The National Company Law Tribunal’s decision to allow the central government to take over the management of the Delhi Gymkhana Club is a major jolt to the powerful notables of the national capital.
The club was initially registered as a Section 8 Company with specific objects related to sports and pastimes, obtained land on lease from the government, but over the years the control of the precious asset passed into the hands of a well-heeled set drawn from the bureaucracy and armed forces.
