Top North Carolina Democrats are expressing strong criticism towards Lt. Gov Mark Robinson, a Republican gubernatorial candidate, following revelations of his involvement in a porn forum where he made numerous troubling comments. A recent investigation uncovered these remarks, prompting Governor Roy Cooper to draw parallels between Robinson and former President Donald Trump, who has endorsed the candidate. Cooper condemned Robinson for what he described as 'disrespect for women.'
In a social media post, Governor Cooper stated, 'Donald Trump and NC GOP leaders embraced Mark Robinson for years knowing who he was and what he stood for, including disrespect for women and inciting violence. They reap what they sow.'
Democratic Representative Jeff Jackson, who is running for state attorney general, expressed his dismay upon reading the comments made by Robinson. Jackson called on Republicans supporting Robinson to familiarize themselves with the content of his remarks. He asserted that Robinson is unfit for any elected position and urged fellow Republicans in North Carolina to clarify their stance on the issue.
According to Jackson, 'Robinson has no business serving in any elected capacity whatsoever. And I’d like to hear from all the Republicans in North Carolina, where they stand on this, because it really should not be a difficult question.'
