American import Josh Magette says it was a "no-brainer" to re-sign with the Tasmania JackJumpers after their fairytale run to the NBL grand final series.
The club defied expectations in their maiden season, with point guard Magette playing a key role in their surge to the playoffs.
Magette has inked a one-year deal for the 2022-23 competition, revealing he didn't talk to rival clubs.
"It was a no-brainer (based on) everything that went into the season this year ... the momentum we built towards the end of the year," he told reporters on Wednesday.
Tasmania have kept the bulk of their squad together for next season, with coach Scott Roth last month extending his contract until at least the end of 2024-25.
The JackJumpers went down 3-0 to the Sydney Kings in the best-of-five grand final series after a wobbly 2-6 start to the season.
"I didn't want to miss the boat next year when I could see the team taking an even bigger step and continuing to get even better," said Magette, who finished second in the league for assists per game.
"It would have hurt me to not be a part of that.
"The community of Tasmania ... blew me away throughout the season. The fans were great. I knew they'd be really excited at the beginning of the year.
"They stuck by us even when we weren't winning games. They were unbelievable in the playoff stretch."
Tasmania could be in the market for two other imports with American Josh Adams fielding big-money offers from elsewhere and Canadian MiKyle McIntosh unlikely to be offered a second year at the club.
"(Adams) has to do what is best for him and his future wife. Whether he decides to come back or not, I support him either way," Magette said.
Magette is in America with his wife and daughter for the NBL off-season and will return to Tasmania in mid-August ahead of pre-season duties and the birth of his second child in December.
"Tasmania felt like home since the day we got there. You can't put a price tag on the way the community makes you feel," he said.
