NBC reporter addresses viral reaction to White House shooting

NBC News correspondent Julie Tsirkin became a viral meme after her bewildered reaction to a shooting near the White House on Saturday evening.
The incident involved Nasire Best, a 21-year-old, opening fire near a White House security checkpoint, leading to Secret Service agents returning fire and Best's death; one bystander was also hospitalized.
Social media users widely shared Tsirkin's stunned expression, inserting it into various disaster-filled or humorous clips.
Tsirkin later embraced her viral fame with humor while also detailing her experience of hearing 20-30 loud booms and being told to run for cover.
“I'm glad I could take one for the team with @nbcsnl on summer break,” she wrote on X, referring to Saturday Night Live being on a hiatus. “Thanks for the memes, internet! Hope you'll stick around for the reporting.”
