Three people were killed, and another was injured after a news helicopter crashed Tuesday evening, September 15 in Chatsworth while covering a separate deadly SUV-bus collision, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. According to multiple media outlets, including BNO News, it was an NBC Los Angeles helicopter.
The helicopter went down around 6:57 p.m. near 9151 N. Mason Avenue in the San Fernando Valley, where firefighters found the aircraft and nearby vehicles engulfed in flames. Four people were assessed at the scene, with three pronounced dead and one transported to a local hospital in unknown condition, LAFD said.
The identities of those killed have not been released, and officials have not yet determined what caused the helicopter to crash. The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are expected to investigate the incident.
