Behind an excellent defensive performance from All-Star Andrew Wiggins, who locked up Luka Doncic and helped hold the Mavericks star to 20 points, the Golden State Warriors remained perfect at home in the playoffs on Wednesday night in a 112-87 Game 1 win.
With his team down by 17 early in third quarter, Doncic dunked in transition to cut the lead to 15 with 8:51 remaining. He did not score again, even missing a technical free throw, and racked up seven turnovers. Doncic posted the worst plus/minus figure of any player at minus-30, and much of the credit belongs to Wiggins.
Despite a quiet offensive night from Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, who combined for 36 points, the Warriors built a double-digit lead in the first quarter and never looked back.
Here’s what fans, analysts and players had to say about the Game 1 win.
