After struggling throughout the first quarter of the season, Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins answered the bell for the Golden State Warriors on Sunday evening in Portland.
With Steph Curry unable to find the bottom of the net, Thompson and Wiggins stepped up to fuel Golden State’s offense against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Thompson scored a team-high 28 points on 11-of-16 shooting from the field with five made triples and four rebounds. Wiggins tacked on a his second-highest-scoring performance of the season with 25 points to go along with seven rebounds in the Warriors’ 118-114.
Each time the Trail Blazers threatened on Sunday, Wiggins, Thompson or rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis came up with a timely bucket to fend off the home team.
Although the Warriors rattled off their second straight win, Curry struggled on Sunday, scoring just seven points on 2-of-12 shooting. Curry failed to make a 3-pointer, shooing 0-for-8 from beyond the arc to snap his streak of 268 straight games with a triple.
