NBA Twitter reacts to Anthony Davis’ boxing training

Anthony Davis has a polarizing following among NBA fans, even among those that root for the Los Angeles Lakers. One has to admit that despite his injury woes, he is one of the most dominant players in the entire league.

He is coming off arguably the best season of his career, in which he posted 25.9 points on 56.3% shooting, 12.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks a game in the regular season while leading everyone in rebounding and blocks per contest in the playoffs.

Even though it is early in the offseason, Davis was seen getting his workout on at a boxing gym recently.

Mostly because it was Davis and not another superstar, fans had plenty of interesting reactions on Twitter.

Fans seemed convinced Davis would get hurt

There is a perception that something as minuscule as an ant tickling its way up Davis’ leg, or even a slight passing breeze, would cause him to start writhing in pain and prevent him from playing basketball for six weeks.

Fans on Twitter almost expected the big man to sustain an injury during his boxing workout.

Some think Davis is avoiding the main thing

Last summer, Davis admitted several weeks into the offseason that he hadn’t touched a basketball for weeks, although shortly afterward he started training with Lethal Shooter, an elite shooting coach many NBA players have hired.

Some seem to think the superstar is doing boxing workouts to avoid doing any basketball-specific work.

It seems like whatever Davis does, he can’t win over a large contingent of NBA fans. But that doesn’t change the fact he’s a legitimate superstar and a force to be reckoned with.
