The Los Angeles Lakers got themselves another big win on Friday when they pushed past the Minnesota Timberwolves, 123-111, but they had to endure an injury scare in the third quarter.
Superstar big man Anthony Davis landed awkwardly on teammate Wenyen Gabriel’s foot and appeared to injure his left foot or ankle. He remained on the ground for multiple transitions up and down the court, and Lakers fans likely feared the worst, thinking that his season may be over.
But Davis got himself together and played his usual minutes the rest of the way, and despite not being 100 percent, he scored 17 points in the fourth quarter as L.A. held off Karl-Anthony Towns and company. Davis finished with 38 points on 15-of-26 shooting, 17 rebounds and two blocked shots.
Across Twitter, fans gave him plenty of credit.
Anthony Davis you have redeemed yourself for everything, thank you king. Let’s get the chip 🥴

Anthony Davis was on a mission tonight. He looks like the AD that was once at the Pelicans https://t.co/k17CgkoGdp

Give me Anthony Davis over any big in HISTORY when healthy. Yes you heard me correct. AD better than Duncan all time. Lakers are feared by the whole league. Nobody wants to face us in playoffs. Good luck rest of league. Oh ya AD did this on one ankle. Lakers run the NBA.

Anthony Davis is the definition of a superstar! He dominates on both ends of the court and always comes up big when it matters most. #NBA #Lakers. See my bio bro
