NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal, 50, is shredded in gym picture as fans tip him for comeback

Shaquille O'Neal has shown off his incredible figure at the age of 50, with the NBA legend boasting a six-pack.

The former LA Lakers star is considered one of the greatest players of all-time, but the athlete revealed back in 2020 that he put on a lot of weight due to tough situations in his life. The death of Kobe Bryant and other meaningful people in O'Neal's life took its toll, but he has since been working hard to get back to a physique he's more comfortable with.

And he's gone above and beyond that, sharing a shredded figure on Instagram for his fans. He looks that good, that his loyal followers have even topped him for an unlikely return to basketball.

"Only thing holding him back from the NBA is stamina," one fan claimed. "He’d still body the league!" Another added: "My guy getting ready to go back to the league.

One was already expected a contract offer, as they joked: "He about to ask for a 1Yr 50M deal. No back-to-backs. No practice. No road trips unless the team is struggling."

O'Neal has really transformed himself in the last two years, and revealed to the Men's Journal what inspired the change. "I want to take my shirt off on Instagram one last time.

"I saw this 70-year-old guy on there, and he had muscles everywhere. So I just decided to switch it up." O'Neal claimed that he began to put on weight due to his love of sandwiches, and this became a trend after multiple deaths in and around his friends and family.

“My sister passed away before Kobe," he continued. "And then Kobe passed away and then I had 28 other people pass away. [2020] was a really bad year and I didn’t want to do anything.

"So, when you don’t want to do anything, but you need to stay out of trouble, there’s two things you can do: eat and Netflix. My problem is, I’ve always been a sandwich guy.

"Sandwich for lunch, sandwich for dinner, sandwich for snack. And when all of that was going on last year, I couldn’t sleep. So, I’d wake up at three in the morning and make a sandwich, five in the morning and make a sandwich."

O'Neal has certainly ditched the carbs and picked up the protein since deciding to make a change. An NBA return is sadly unlikely, but that doesn't rule out a celebrity/charity appearance.
