Nikola Jokić and the Denver Nuggets finally will get back to playing basketball Thursday night when they play host to Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.
The Nuggets, of course, swept the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference finals and then had to sit around and wait for the Heat to beat the Boston Celtics in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals.
Jokić, a two-time NBA MVP, is now ready to play on the biggest stage of his career, and it seems as if he’s pretty loose heading into the series.
He had a great answer to a question on Wednesday when he was asked if he’s the best player on the Nuggets:
Nikola Jokic: "Sometimes I am [the best player on the Nuggets], sometimes I'm not. And I'm cool with that." pic.twitter.com/2X6P6e2Lgt

The big man knows how to have some fun.
NBA fans loved it:

Is it weird to adore an NBA superstar and back to back MVP like he’s your child or tiny family member? Because I adore the f out of this man. https://t.co/S3Ls6WbsWU

There’s a weird earnestness and naïveté to some of his answers that separate him from other nba players. Not naming names but sometimes pro athletes do the fake humble thing and it’s very transparently fake but Jokic says things so ineloquently I tend to believe him https://t.co/5o2uuCRP25
