Richard Sherman is taking some serious heat from NBA fans after his take Wednesday morning on Undisputed.
Sherman, part of the new cast Skip Bayless constructed for the morning debate show, has brought some interesting soundbites of football commentary so far in his time on the show. But with NBA season set to get underway, Sherman was forced to weigh in on the beef between the Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Lakers, and his take puzzled virtually everyone in the basketball world. Sherman criticized Nuggets head coach Michael Malone, who is fresh off leading the franchise to an NBA championship.
“Michael Malone has had one successful season,” Sherman said. “He will be an irrelevant, erroneous name in the history books of the NBA.”

“Michael Malone has had one successful season… he will be an irrelevant, erroneous name in the history books of the NBA.” 😬

Malone has been critical of LeBron James, mocking James’ interview during which he said he was pondering retirement after the Nuggets swept the Lakers 4–0. That has sparked quite the rivalry between the two teams heading into the new season, and the two squads face off in their season opener on October 24. Still, Sherman’s comments about Malone felt way off-base, and fans reacted strongly.
Richard Sherman doesn't watch NBA basketball lol https://t.co/WkfnXoIdjQ

Richard Sherman should just stop talking about basketball. Love his football insight but man… Michael Malone is one of the best coaches in the league. https://t.co/mwa7sSA25J

The Nuggets were awful after the Carmelo trade. Mike Malone has led them to six straight winning seasons, six playoff appearances, a conference final, and an NBA title, the first in Franchise history, I highly doubt that will be forgotten. https://t.co/tAUsUQTjv4

I'm so confused. A coach who has won at least 46 games in every season since 2017 and has been to at least the second-round of the playoffs in 4 of the past 5 seasons has had just one successful season? I understand that Undisputed needs views, but this is just wrong. https://t.co/sa9ohBtsFT

What is his basis for this? What about Malone’s track record or tactics or personality does he take issue with?

You don’t have to put him in the Hall of Fame or anything, but he’s a damn good coach. No title-winner has ever been irrelevant. https://t.co/PFHRObPrL3
Please stop making us watch NFLers talk about the NBA. Thx. https://t.co/imXWUrVXIC
