Jason Timpf of Volume Sports argued the Thunder should get in on the sweepstakes and “prove to Dame that they’re a worthwhile destination.”
Timpf broke it down, citing that Houston is loaded with draft capital over the next seven years, including 35 total picks with 15 in the first round. In turn, the Thunder could potentially avoid parting with a bulk of their talented young core in pursuit of Lillard.
A potential lineup with Lillard slotted in adds to the intrigue, which Timpf described as “already, overnight, one of the most talented rosters in the league.” And it’s a pitch that’s tough to disagree with based on how that group would look on the floor.

Timpf isn’t saying it will happen, but he’s asking Lillard and the Blazers to keep an open mind. It still appears he will land with the Heat, but whether that has a chance to change will be something to monitor.
