There’s still no word regarding what Naughty Dog, the studio responsible for The Last of Us and Uncharted, is working on next – though that’s apparently for a good reason.
During an interview with ComicBook, Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann explained that with the studio’s last couple of games, namely The Last of Us Part 2 and Uncharted 4, early announcements led to several internal issues.
“We did announce Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us Part 2 way in advance, but that actually caused a little bit of the work-life balance issues that we’ve sometimes had at the studio,” Druckmann said. “By delaying that announcement a bit, we could play with the schedule more and we’re more conscious now about how we’re approaching production. So there’s our [The Last of Us] multiplayer project, and there’s another project that I will not say anything about that’s beyond that that we’re also very much excited for.”
While Druckmann is still tight-lipped about whatever the next big game from Naughty Dog is, he recently revealed that it’d be like a TV show in terms of structure.
Naughty Dog’s last major release was The Last of Us Part 2, which came out in June 2020. Since then, the only major reveal was for the spinoff multiplayer title, and a late PC port of The Last of Us Part releases quite soon.
