Nature presenter Riyadh Khalaf's daily routine: balancing supplements with homegrown health foods

I wake up at around 7.30 or 8am, after my partner has already gotten up. We use a Lumie alarm clock that simulates sunrise and plays rainforest birdsong. The blinds stay open so natural light kick-starts my circadian rhythm.

I start the day with a shower, ending with a cold blast. In Covid, I began ending my showers with cold water and now I can’t go without it. Even if I’m away, I crave that hit of clarity and it gives me a minor sense of achievement at the start of every day. I try to stay under for at least 90 seconds, often timing it to a two-and-a-half-minute song (probably Lady Gaga).
