Tottenham recorded back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time since October as they registered a huge victory over Manchester City on Sunday afternoon. The Lilywhites pulled off a classic performance against the champions that has so often made them a thorn in their side, even without head coach Antonio Conte as he recovered from surgery in Italy.
While the home team had far less possession, they looked dangerous early on when springing counters and pressing and opened the scoring in exactly that way. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg dispossessed Rico Lewis to lay the ball off to Harry Kane, who slotted home his 267th Spurs goal, becoming the club's all-time top goal scorer by overtaking the late, great Jimmy Greaves.
Pep Guardiola's men looked a shell of their former selves, with the Spaniard scrambling to answers for their spluttering season so far and unable to find the combination to unlock the Tottenham defence. It was all on defending late in the game, with Cristian Romero taking a second yellow for the team, meaning he will miss the clash with Leicester City next Saturday.

Many won't have their mind on that game though as they drink in a historic win over City, something that will be remembered for a while. As always, the national media have reacted to the performance and here's what they had to say about it.
The Guardian
The Guardian believed that Tottenham were rightful victors in their game against an out of sorts Man City, saying in their report: "Spurs had been desperate for something to spark their season, a first victory against a member of the so-called big six after so many frustrations, and they got it – deservedly, against a curiously off-colour Manchester City. And how it would be celebrated down the road at Arsenal, whose lead over City at the top of the Premier League has not been damaged by their surprise defeat at Everton on Saturday."
The Mirror
One key talking point in the Mirror's report was of the record-breaking goal for Kane, adding that the strike was a personification of his career to date: "He [Kane] took that chance with both hands as he leapfrogged Greaves as Tottenham's best-ever goalscorer with his 267th finish in Spurs colours, over a decade after his first back in December 2011. It was a finish that summed up Kane, too, as he clinically slotted home with his opening opportunity of the game."
BBC Sport
The BBC had their say on Kane breaking the record too, drawing comparisons to his early seasons of his career by writing: "Kane celebrated his historic strike with all the excitement of an 18-year-old - the age he was when he scored his first goal for Spurs against Shamrock Rovers in the Europa League 12 years ago. It was fitting it came at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in front of his club's fans, who let out an almighty roar when the ball flew past City keeper Ederson."
