The National Lottery has named the Irish counties that are luckiest when it comes to big wins on scratch cards and online instant win games.
Since 2020, more than 300 people across Ireland have won ‘high tier’ prizes, worth a combined €20 million.
Dublin - Ireland’s most populous county - topped the chart, with 78 players claiming a mammoth €4,115,000 in winnings.

Players in Tipperary came in second place with €2,270,000 shared among 21 winners
Kildare came third with €1,475,000 won by 13 individual players, while Louth and Cork rounded off the top five with total prize wins of €1,455,000 and €1,220,000 respectively.
When it comes to Ireland’s unluckiest county for ‘high tier’ wins, Clare came out bottom with just €115,000 in winnings shared between three people.
Cavan is second last, with three individual players sharing €140,000. Also bottom of the list are Longford (€165,000 between three people), Monaghan (€170,000 between six people) and Sligo (€175,000 between five people).
The statistics are compiled from National Lottery prize claims data from scratch card and instant win games in 2020 – 2022.
High tier prizes are defined as prizes in excess of €15,000, or €10,000 for online wins.
It comes as the National Lottery has launched a range of festive scratch cards, with a top prize of €100,000.
Meanwhile, they are reminding players about their ‘Gift Responsibly’ campaign which was launched to raise awareness about the risks of underage or excessive lottery play during the busy Christmas gifting period.
A National Lottery spokesperson said: "We ask all our players and the wider public to support our ‘Gift Responsibly’ campaign and remember when you are purchasing any National Lottery product as a gift, whether at Christmas or any time of the year, it is always important to gift responsibly. We encourage our players to ensure to keep lottery play for those who are aged 18 years and older."
