National awards success for Scunthorpe cardboard specialist as it builds on regional renewables glory

CorrBoard UK has done the double at the National Sustainability Awards.

The Scunthorpe-based independent sheet feeding specialist took top spot in both Renewable Energy Generation and Facilities Management categories at the gala event at the Waldorf Hilton in London. It followed success at the Humber Renewables Awards and paper Industry Gold Awards earlier this year.

The company powers its production via on-site anaerobic digestion, having invested significantly at the Normanby Enterprise Park site.

Managing director, Rob Burgin, said: “What a night! We simply could not believe it when we were announced as winners of the first award, it was a wonderful feeling.

“Then, to be called up a second time to be told we were also successful in the Facilities Management category as well really was the icing on the cake!

“We completely changed our approach at the start of the year with a new strategic direction for the business. Through our intrinsic partnership with CorrBoard BioEnergy, we started to look at what more we could do. It has been a real journey for us all and celebrating this success together makes it all worthwhile.”

CorrBoard had also been shortlisted in Circular and Recycling and Green Energy Supplier categories.

Mr Burgin said sustainability is at the heart of the business and its focus moving forward will be on constant improvement, with investment and training in eliminating waste and pollution to create the most environmentally efficient manufacturing process in pursuit of a true circular economy.

It comes as 11 colleagues there were awarded the CX Academy, Professional Certificate in Customer Experience.
