Nathan Patterson shuts out Everton transfer noise after 'brilliant' pre season display as he breaks exit silence

Everton defender Nathan Patterson insists he is looking forward to the English Premier League campaign amid reports that he could be set to leave Merseyside.

The right-back has endured a torrid time since leaving Rangers in January for The Toffees after signing for Rafa Benitez, when the Spaniard was quickly replaced by Frank Lampard following the 20-year-old's arrival south of the border. He has made just one appearance under Lampard against Boreham Wood in the FA Cup, during which he was subbed at half-time, before picking up an ankle knock that ended his campaign.

However, Patterson is back to full fitness and he has been handed a chance in pre-season to impress Lampard and his coaching staff, with the latest appearance coming against Blackpool amid speculation he could be set to leave Goodison Park. Reports suggest that Lampard wants the full-back to get more game-time by sending him out to another club this summer.

If the former Chelsea and Derby boss is considering a move for Patterson he could be forced into a major rethink. The Scotland cap chipped in with two assists in Everton 's 4-2 win at Bloomfield Road.

The Liverpool ECHO raved about the performance of the former Rangers full back, branding him the man of the match. They wrote: "A brilliant display from the Scotland international as he showed Blues supporters just what he is capable of producing. Two assists and a constant threat down the right, he was Everton’s man of the match."

Amid the reports, Patterson kept his focus on the league with the big kick-off just two weeks away. He told club TV: "It was good to get more minutes under the belt. It's good for the legs and good for the start of the season, and I'm looking forward to it.

"It's obviously my aim to try and provide for the team, and obviously get forward for the team. I got two (assists) today so I am delighted with that.

"The fans always come out for the away games and it was a great support once again. No surprise."
