EXCLUSIVE: Nathan Patterson makes honest Everton injury admission as defender eyes up latest return
Nathan Patterson said the Finch Farm setup has been crucial to helping him overcome his injury battles and make an impression at Everton.
The Scotland defender has twice suffered setbacks at key times in his fledgling Blues career but has fought back from both to get back into the side. The 21-year-old has been impressive since making his Premier League debut in the first game of the season and has continued to show his talent after Frank Lampard’s tactical changes following the conclusion of the transfer window.
He is now determined to kick on when the domestic schedule resumes and help the team climb the table after a difficult final week before the World Cup break.
Patterson moved to Merseyside from Rangers in January but his start to life at Goodison was hindered by a switch in manager, the threat of relegation and then injury. Lampard gave him his debut against Boreham Wood in the FA Cup and was set to give him his first league start against West Ham United only for him to suffer an ankle injury on international duty. That ruled him out of the final weeks of last season. He then started against Chelsea in the opening game of this campaign and quickly earned the praise of Lampard and the supporters before then sustaining another injury with Scotland.

Dele Alli backed to make 'great contribution' at Besiktas by ex-Everton team-mate
Cenk Tosun has backed Dele Ali to rediscover his form at Besiktas and revealed that the on-loan Everton midfielder has settled into life in Istanbul seamlessly.
Dele made the switch to the Vodafone Park in August after falling out of favour under Blues boss Frank Lampard, just months after making the move to Goodison Park from former club Tottenham Hotspur.
But since his switch to Turkey, Alli has continued to struggle to recapture the form that once made him one of the most exciting young talents in the game, having fired just one goal in seven outings for the Black Eagles.
But Tosun, who shared a dressing room with Alli at Goodison Park last season and completed a return to Besiktas after three-and-a-half years on Merseyside in July, has backed the 37-cap England international to succeed in his first stint outside of the English football pyramid.
