Nathan Patterson's "calmness" has been hailed by Steven Naismith as he waits for a chance under Everton boss Frank Lampard.
Patterson has played just 45 minutes for Everton since his January arrival from Rangers with both Seamus Coleman and Celtic flop Jonjoe Kenny both preferred at right-back.
He was hooked at half-time of his only appearance so far and hasn't had a look-in at Goodison Park since.
Patterson is enjoying a break from the English Premier League relegation scrap after his latest Scotland call-up.
The 20-year-old will be hoping for some minutes under Steve Clarke with the friendly clash with Poland coming up on Thursday.
Former Everton striker and current Scotland assistant Steven Naismith praised Patterson for his patience and attitude as he bides his time for a second chance under Lampard.
He reckons it's the players "calmness" that has served him well up to this point in his career.
Naismith said: "You see it in Nathan and you see it in Billy, young players that have come in. They have a calmness when they’ve got the ball.
"In years gone by, young players might be a good defender or a good goalscorer.
"But they’re missing that composure. What makes these guys different is that they’ve got that composure."
