Nathan Patterson 'excellent' verdict as Everton wait on news over Seamus Coleman injury

Nathan Patterson was handed an 'excellent' verdict from Sean Dyche after coming on for Everton in the relegation battle with Leicester City.

The Scotland international replaced the injured Seamus Coleman at the King Power Stadium in a major injury blow for the Toffees. His boss confirmed it looks like a knee injury and it could be serious but news on that front is still to be confirmed. The unfortunate situation handed former Rangers man Patterson the chance to come in as he now looks for an extended run in the team ahead of a huge end of season run-in.

Everton are currently 19th in the EPL standings with just four games of the season to be played. They are one point from safety as they bid to avoid the drop to the English Championship for next season. They face a tough final run of fixtures with European chasing Brighton next up before the daunting task of facing Manchester City.

They then face TWO massive games against Wolves and Bournemouth with their fate to be decided by the end of this month.

Speaking to Sky Sports post-match, Dyche said: "It is really unfortunate and we are waiting on news. It looks like a knee injury and it could be serious, so we don't know yet.

"I thought he was terrific so it is a real loss to us. But I thought Patto [Nathan Patterson] did really well, it's not east coming on in games like that, and I thought he was excellent."
