Nathan Broadhead has signed a season-long loan with Sunderland's Championship rivals Wigan Athletic after months of speculation. The Everton forward was linked with a return to Wearside this summer having spent the entirety of last season on loan with the Black Cats.
The 24-year-old scored 12 goals in 27 appearances for the Wearsiders last season in all competitions, with a number of fans keen on a possible return. Reports claim the Black Cats entered talks with Everton over bringing him back to the Stadium of Light this season, but Broadhead has opted to move to the DW Stadium for the 2022/23 campaign.
There had been talk that Broadhead would sign a new deal at Goodison Park, prior to heading out on loan, but it's unclear whether that's the case. Speaking to Latics TV after the confirmation of the loan deal, Broadhead said: “I’m very excited for the challenge ahead and I’m buzzing to be here.
