Nat Phillips latest as transfer admission made over Liverpool defender

Bournemouth boss Scott Parker has admitted he is hopeful of retaining the services of Liverpool defender Nat Phillips.

Phillips signed for the Cherries on loan for the remainder of the season in the January transfer window. Prior to his move, the 25-year-old had made just three appearances for the Reds this term.

Since moving to the south coast, Phillips has made eight appearances in the Championship, recording five wins, two draws and one defeat. He has helped Bournemouth reach second place in the league table with nine matches left to play.

Phillips is still under contract at Liverpool until 2025, after he signed a long-term deal with the Anfield club last summer. His form helping the Reds secure a third-place finish in the Premier League saw him earn a new deal.

With the end of the season and the summer transfer window fast approaching, Phillips’ future is likely to be on the agenda once again. Parker says that while no official talks have taken place, he admits he wants to have the Liverpool defender back for next season.

"Maybe, hopefully," Parker told Dorset Live , when asked if he wants to keep Phillips beyond his current loan deal.

"At this moment in time, that has not really been discussed.

“As always, whether with Nat or all the players who are on loan and in where they sit or don't sit, it is really irrelevant.”
