Fremantle recruit Jaeger O'Meara predicts Nat Fyfe will become a dangerous forward this season after the former skipper stood out in the club's intraclub hitout.
Fyfe booted three goals in a display that has buoyed hopes that the two-time Brownlow medallist will be a success up forward this year.
O'Meara, who crossed from Hawthorn during the trade period, is excited about what Fyfe will be able to produce in attack.
"He's getting better and better. He's working really hard on his craft," O'Meara told the club's website.
"He's going to be a dangerous forward. And when the ball is in his area, he's quite hard to stop.
"If he doesn't take the ball with him, then he's taking a body.
"He's going to be really dangerous, and I'm looking forward to hopefully getting a good connection with him going inside 50m and him kicking some goals for us."
Fremantle assistant coach Joel Corey was also impressed by Fyfe, who gave up the captaincy last week.
"Fyfey had a pretty good day. The chemistry he's got with the forward line is growing," Corey said.
"His repeat effort kind of stuff (is important). He's always a threat and a danger forward of the ball.
"He's an extremely hard match-up. If you think back from December to now, there's been some leaps made."
Ruckman Sean Darcy didn't play on Friday due to personal reasons, while Michael Walters (managed), Brennan Cox (infected knee), Andrew Brayshaw (illness), and Nathan O'Driscoll (foot) were other notable absentees.
Prized recruit Luke Jackson played in the ruck and booted one goal in a strong display.
Sebit Kuek, who was picked up in last year's mid-season draft, also impressed with three goals.
Josh Treacy pushed his case for a round-one call-up with two goals and a stint in the ruck.
But goalsneak Michael Frederick is in a race to be fit for the season opener after injuring his quad at training earlier this week.
The addition of O'Meara into the midfield looms as a crucial part of Fremantle's premiership bid.
The 28-year-old performed strongly in Friday's intra-club.
"I think my touch was reasonably good, and good to get the Ks in the legs as well," he said.
"In these intraclubs, you're going as hard as you can, but you're also playing against your teammates, so you're not really wanting to do any injuries to anyone.
"It's nice to get them (intraclub matches) out of the way. We've been playing against each other for quite some time. I'm looking forward to Adelaide next week."
