Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell cracked the perfect joke about Vanderbilt’s goalpost in the river

Vanderbilt’s breathtaking upset of No. 1 Alabama shocked the college football world on Saturday, and the celebrations for the win were amazing.

Those celebrations included Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell taking to Twitter (X) and sharing some delightful thoughts on the victory.

O’Connell celebrated the school’s historic win as much as all well-wishers in town, but his commentary on Commodores fans tossing a Vandy goalpost into the Cumberland River was particularly fantastic.

“I’m hearing reports that the Cumberland River is experiencing low tide,” O’Connell joked on social media about the Alabama upset.

Alright, that’s absolutely gold. All mayors should have their Twitter (X) game as strong as O’Connell after a town’s major college football win over a juggernaut like Alabama.
