June Nasdaq 100 E-Mini futures (NQM26) are down -1.61% this morning as investors continued to trim exposure to the technology sector, with the focus now turning to key U.S. inflation data.
Nasdaq futures losses accelerated after U.S. President Donald Trump said Iran “will have to pay the price” for taking too long to negotiate a deal. The threat came after a round of retaliatory strikes between the U.S. and Iran. The U.S. military carried out strikes against Iran on Tuesday in retaliation for the downing of a U.S. Apache helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz. President Trump ordered the strikes, which the military described as a self-defense action. In response, Iran launched missile and drone attacks on U.S. military bases in Jordan, Kuwait, and Bahrain on Wednesday. The clashes marked one of the largest flare-ups of hostilities since the two countries agreed to a ceasefire in April. Meanwhile, Tehran said it would review the diplomatic process in light of the strikes.
