
Larson attempted to become the fifth driver to attempt to run NASCAR's longest race and IndyCar's blue ribband event on the same day, but bad weather – first in Indianapolis and then in Charlotte – meant Larson failed to get into his Hendrick Motorsport Chevrolet in the 600 after completing the Indy 500.
After what he described as a “diligent process,” NASCAR’s senior vice president of competition Elton Sawyer said that Larson has been granted the waiver and is still eligible to compete for the 2024 Cup title.
