NASA and Ayr United pledge to boldly tred new ground with youth partnership

More than 1,300 kids at a youth football league have been offered free season tickets to Somerset Park.

Up and coming stars playing in the North Ayrshire Soccer Association (NASA) are being given the chance to become the next generation of Ayr United fans.

A deal has been struck between United bosses and league officials that will also see support offered to the youth league's coaches.

NASA secretary, Nicola Stewart, hailed the groundbreaking agreement as one which would benefit both parties.

She told the Ayrshire Post: "We were bowled over to be approached by Graeme Mathie (Ayr's managing director), who pitched the idea to us.

"It's clear that Ayr are doing things right off the park and they're trying everything to engage with new fans, particularly the younger ones in the community.

"We felt their ethos perfectly matched that of ours - we're both organisations that are keen to grow and we can do that together with this agreement.

"My own son and partner are diehard Ayr fans and I can see the excitement and engagement they currently have with the club, so hopefully this spreads to the hundreds of kids in our setup."

As part of the deal, all children playing within the NASA league are being given access to free Somerset season tickets.

United's Academy coaches will also be on hand to offer support throughout the season at a series of arranged sessions.

Nicola said: "Football is a magical tool that has the ability to inspire youngsters from all backgrounds to come together.

"We're passionate about growing our league and linking with a club as ambitious as Ayr United can only help us in that regard.

"Yes they're doing well on the pitch at the moment, but just as important is the work like this that's going on.

"The feedback we've had from our teams and players to the season ticket offer has been amazing and it bodes really well for the future.

"It's a chance for them to create memories as young fans at the football and become even more engaged with the game we all love."
