Naomi Campbell leads celebs celebrating Depp verdict while Lindsay Lohan supports Heard

Naomi Campbell and Jennifer Aniston are among the stars celebrating Johnny Depp winning his libel trial against Amber Heard, but not everyone was supportive of the outcome.

Amy Schumer posted a powerful quote by feminist and activist Gloria Steinem in the aftermath of the verdict, which gathered praise from Amber's supporters - which included Lindsay Lohan.

On Wednesday afternoon, Johnny was awarded damages of $10million (£8million) and a further $5million (£4million) in punitive damages after a jury ruled in his favour.

Over the last six weeks, a Virginia court heard the grim details of the actor's short-lived marriage to Aquaman star Amber before the jury ultimately decided in his favour.

After the decision was announced, fans around the world shared their reaction with the case attracting worldwide attention over the last month.

Comedian Amy Schumer took to Instagram to post a dark warning to her followers.

"Any woman who chooses to behave like a full human being should be warned that the armies of the status quo will treat her as something of a dirty joke ... she will need her sisterhood," read the post.

Mean Girls actress Lindsay Lohan liked Amy's post and added a praising hands emoji in solidarity.

Countdown's Rachel Riley also spoke out after the verdict, calling it a "horrible state of affairs".

She took to Twitter and wrote: "We need to accept the verdict, etc etc’

“Said by those who didn’t accept the one already determined by an experienced British judge, which is where most of us got the info to form an opinion in the first place.

"Male/female has nothing to do with it. Horrible state of affairs.”

Countdown star Rachel has been vocal in her support for Amber since the trial first begun.

Earlier in May, she shared an excerpt from a ruling from the UK's High Court of Justice, Queen's Bench Division.

She wrote: "Extracts of the 129 page judgement (link in next tweet) in the legal case Depp already lost.

"Left the description, right the judge’s assessment of it.

“I still don’t understand how anyone can defend this man.

“This trial is post separation abuse on an enormous scale,” she said.

Many other stars were vocal of supporting Johnny, who chose not to attend Wednesday's verdict and was spotted drinking pints at a pub in Newcastle.

He did however, share a heartfelt with fans - which attracted much attention from his celebrity admirers.

Johnny penned: "Six years ago, my life, the life of my children, the lives of those closest to me, and also, the lives of the people, who for many, many years have supported and believed me where forever changed.

He went on to say that "very serious" and "criminal allegations" were levied at him, triggering an "endless barrage of hateful content".

"Six years later, the jury gave me my life back. I am truly humbled," he added.

Supermodel Naomi Campbell, whose long-term friend Kate Moss gave evidence in the tria, replied with a string of heart emojis, which gathered over 30,000 likes.

British comedian Morgana Robinson also left a load of hearts, with the comment: "We love you, Edward scissor hands. Give little Richard a kiss from me xxxxx"

Jennifer Anniston was also seen to like the post.

Other celebrities were seen to gather in the likes section, including Emma Roberts, Zoe Saldana, Bella Hadid, Taika Waititi, and Amber's co-star Jason Momoa.

Pretty Little Liars star Ashley Benson shared a photo of Johnny on her Instagram with the caption: "YESSSSS," followed by six black heart emojis.

Sharon Osbourne shared her shock over Johnny's victory, saying that she "wanted him to win".

Speaking on Piers Morgan's TalkTV show, Sharon said: "Wow, it wasn't what I was expecting. I mean, I wanted Johnny to win but I didn't expect him to."

She said: "[Johnny] is a gentle soul. I can tell you last night, he spent about 45 minutes in his dressing room on his knees, talking to this little girl that was reading her diary to him.

"Now, I don't know many guys that would sit back and do that. There weren't any cameras around there were no film crews. He did it because he's a gentle soul."

"Sometimes, I suppose, he lost his rag, but as a human being he's a good human being," she added.

Amber, who won $2million back in compensatory damages, will have the chance to appeal the verdict.
