Naomi Campbell has confirmed her daughter was not adopted while praising her as the “biggest blessing”.
The 51-year-old supermodel stunned fans in May after making a surprise announcement that she had given birth to a baby girl.
Campbell has now been pictured alongside her daughter for the first time in a series of amazing photographs for British Vogue.
She told the magazine: “I can count on one hand the number of people who knew that I was having her. But she is the biggest blessing I could ever imagine. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done.”
The catwalk star put an end to speculation that the child was adopted with the words: “She’s my child.”
The London-born model said she still enjoys runway shows but finds it “nerve-racking” to walk alongside younger models.
She added: “Because I’m 51 years old walking with girls who are 18. It’s great to be with these young ‘uns at my age, but I have to say, at one of the shows I was like, ‘Come on, girls! Pick up your feet! Why are you walking so slow?’”
Reflecting on the early stages of her career, she described it as an “incredible time” but admitted it was hard work because of her congested schedule and all the outfit changes.
Campbell, who was discovered as a schoolgirl, went on to become the first black British model to appear on the cover of British Vogue.
The model said she was “proud” to see more diversity in the industry now but recalled the challenges she faced during her career.
She explained: “There were lots of times when I would walk in the fashion shows, but I was never picked for the ad campaigns and it would hurt – it really hurt. I would have to suck it up and keep moving.”
