A Nancy Guthrie case claim about possible mistaken identity has circulated online after self-described investigator Jonathan Lee Riches amplified an allegation about FBI images.

The allegation concerns the unidentified man seen outside Guthrie's Tucson home shortly before her disappearance. It claims a Pima County sheriff's deputy raised possible 'defamation' or 'mistaken identity' concerns about public use of the images.
