A retired FBI agent has strongly criticised the Pima County Sheriff's Department over what she described as an insufficient search of the Sonoran Desert in the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie.

The 84-year-old mother of Today show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie vanished on 1 February after investigators believe she was abducted from her Tucson-area home.
