NAGPUR: The senior inspector from Nashik, who had sent low intensity volatile pellets meant for air gun through speed post, is likely to have violated the Indian Post Office Act, 1898 of sending explosive or dangerous material. If proved correct, he faces imprisonment up to one year or fine, or both.
The pellets had gone off at the parcel unit of the General Post Office (GPO) at Civil Lines on Tuesday triggering panic. The incident also brought to fore a lacuna that GPO does not have any scanner at it’s parcel section. Scanning is done only for international parcels.
