OUTGOING Tory MP and Boris Johnson loyalist Nadine Dorries has claimed that Nicola Sturgeon “destabilised Scotland and the Union”.
Nicola Sturgeon announced that she would step down as First Minister on Wednesday morning after more than eight years in the job.
In the wake of the announcement, many politicians put their differences with Sturgeon aside and congratulated her for her long tenure and skills as a communicator.
However, not all reactions to the First Minister’s resignation have been so dignified.
Quote tweeting the Sky News journalist Beth Rigby, who praised Sturgeon as “one of the most formidable politicians of her generations”, Dorries decided to give her own assessment of the First Minister’s time in office.

She said: “She was a disruptor. She destabilised Scotland and the Union.

Dorries certainly knows something about spearheading policies with a lack of public support.
Her attempt to privatise Channel 4 was quickly dropped by Rishi Sunak’s government and a YouGov poll from April 2022, when Dorries was still Culture Minister, showed that only 14% of people felt that the channel should be privatised as opposed to 47% who felt it should not.
Last week, Dorries wept as she announced that she would step down as a Tory MP at the next General Election during her chat show on Talk TV.
On the show’s first episode, which featured a bizarre interview with Boris Johnson, Dorries also took a swipe at Sturgeon by calling her “chippy”.
