ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Four more people in Newfoundland and Labrador have died of COVID-19, bringing the province's total pandemic-related deaths to 56.
Health officials say those who died include a woman and a man in their 60s, a man in his 70s and a man over 80.
Public health said in a news release Monday there were 23 people hospitalized because of COVID-19, including eight in critical care.
Officials reported 174 new confirmed cases, with 19 per cent of tests completed since Sunday yielding a positive result.
With 149 recoveries, there were 1,712 active reported COVID-19 infections across the province.
Federal data shows Newfoundland and Labrador leads the country in vaccinations, with 95.28 per cent of eligible residents having received at least one dose as of Feb. 6.
