Mystic Meg 'lived alone in her flat with her crystal ball and cats before her death'

Mystic Meg's agent has revealed some of the details of the late star's life prior to her death - explaining how she enjoyed a quiet life with her seven cats and trademark crystal ball keeping her company.

It was announced this morning that Mystic Meg has died, with tributes having since been paid to the astrologer who's known for appearing on National Lottery draws.

The late astrologer - whose real name was Margaret Lake - is understood to have passed away, aged 80, in the early hours of this morning (March 9) following a short illness.

The former newspaper sub-editor is remembered for her astrology columns over the years and for her various predictions on lottery draws from 1994 until 2000.

And although she's been dubbed the country's "most famous astrologer" and was a household name, Meg is said to have lived a quiet life with just her cats for company.

Meg is said to have lived alone in a three-bedroom flat in Notting Hill prior to her death. She's said to have lived with seven cats that she reportedly said had 'found her and moved in'.

Her agent, Dave Shapland, who is said to have worked with Meg for more than 30 years, told the Sun that he hadn't ever known there to be another man in her life.

Dave said: "In all the time I knew her there was never another man in her life." Her agent further commented that she seemed to be reclusive and was a "very private" person.

"She gave the impression of being a recluse, living on her own with her crystal ball and seven cats for company. That was the reality," he commented about the late astrologer.

Meg is said to have used her crystal ball for almost 60 years to predict the future, sharing her forecasts in various outlets over the years including through phone readings.

She's said to have inherited the crystal ball from her maternal great-grandmother who also "had the gift". It's been reported that she taught Meg astrology and fortune telling.

The news of Meg's death was reported earlier this morning, with her agent Dave having spoken to the Sun - with him having described her as Britain's "most famous astrologer".

Meg previously had an astrology column with the outlet as well as with the News of the World. She had been a sub-editor for the latter newspaper earlier in her career too.

She however is perhaps best known for her regular segment on the National Lottery draws, appearing in them from the first live broadcast in 1994 until her departure in 2000.
