Mystery 'pale' man seen cycling naked through village leaving residents baffled

A mysterious 'pale' man has been seen cycling naked through a local village which is leaving locals baffled.

Several sightings of the naked man in his birthday suit have been reported in Derbyshire through the Peak District village of Fenny Bentley on the morning of Easter Sunday.

The man appears to be middle-aged and was caught on camera riding through Ashbourne yesterday afternoon, Tuesday, April 19, much to the amusement of those driving behind him who successfully captured the footage, DerbyshireLive reported.

Villagers thought it was some kind of prank, but a group of runners heading towards Mam Tor, saw him on Sunday, April 18, suggesting a pattern of behaviour rather than a one-off incident.

Meanwhile, Derbyshire police received one call from a member of the public about the naked cyclist yesterday but an officer in the area failed to track him down.

One social media user on Facebook said they saw the nude cyclist crossing the Co-op car park in Ashbourne, however there have been no reports of naked cyclists in Derbyshire so far today, Wednesday, April 20.

Warehouse worker, Jade Meadows, 20, from Ashbourne, captured footage of the mystery man as he made his way through the town on Tuesday.

She said: "It was about 2.30pm yesterday and I was surprised to see him but then again it is Ashbourne. Quite a few people have seen him in the town.

"We saw him opposite Shawcroft car park, near Ashbourne Fire Station. A pale, naked man on a bike."

The cyclist risks being accused of indecent exposure should anyone take offence at the cyclist being nude.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire police said: "We received one call to report this cyclist, on the morning of Tuesday 19 April. A member of the public had seen him riding in Ashbourne.

"A local officer in the area searched for him but didn’t find him. We received no other calls."

To be successfully prosecuted for indecent exposure, it must be proved that the intention was to cause alarm or distress.

However, the mystery surrounding the cyclist is causing more amusement and bafflement with villagers than upset in and around Ashbourne.
