Towards the end of 2019 an Instagram user caused a storm in her home county after posting a series of eerie selfies looking like a 'zombie' Angelia Jolie.
Fatemeh Khishvand, known online as Sahar Tabar, is rumoured to have had 50 separate plastic surgery ops which left her being compared to the Tomb Raider actress.
Fatemeh was detained by an angered Iranian government for more than a year before being handed a 10-year jail term in December 2020 due to the heavily-edited "joke" images.
Then aged 19, she was charged with the corruption of young people and disrespect for the Islamic republic on the orders of Tehran's guidance court that handles 'cultural crimes and social and moral corruption'.
The lengthy sentence given by an Islamic Revolutionary Court - known for their alleged secretive rulings - was met with outrage online amid the "unjust" severity of the case and Fatemeh was even denied bail despite other prisoners being set free over similar concerns.
However, she was then reportedly freed from prison only days after being given the devastating news.
Is Fatemeh Khishvand lying low to keep out of trouble or now just want a quiet life?
Yet nothing has been reported of her since, online or otherwise - which raises the question of whether Fatemeh is now maintaining a low profile in order to not upset Iran's Shia Muslim authorities again?
Following her 14 months languishing in jail she allegedly said : "I'm sure I will not even put Instagram on my phone anymore, let alone have a page."
According to Amnesty International, the state of Iran "heavily suppress the rights to freedom of expression, association and assembly."
The human rights organisation reported that "security and intelligence officials carried out arbitrary arrests for social media postings deemed “counter-revolutionary” or “un-Islamic”" in January 2021.
Social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube are all blocked in the country - Instagram and TikTok are currently accessible there.
Fatemeh's Instagram account was opened in 2017 and amassed around 500,000 followers thanks to her Photoshop wizardry that created creepy photos, as well as videos, of her apparently disfigured face with hollowed-out cheeks.
After initially fooling some of her fans with her appearance, questions were raised about the authenticity of her photos and pointed out clues such as her warped backgrounds.
In July 2019 she revealed in a post that she had in fact just used a mix of Photoshop and make up to achieve the freaky-looking poses.
She later said she had always wanted to be famous but was aiming more for a look of the Corpse Bride in Tim Burton's animated film of the same name rather than the Oscar-winning Jolie.
After being criticised for her bizarre makeovers, she added: “People are probably living in the 18th century and they haven’t seen or heard of technology or make-up and they are really surprised.”
She was arrested in October 2019 and the following April while stuck in jail she caught Covid and was reportedly fighting for her life on a ventilator.
The social media star was placed in a women's prison described as "the most dangerous and worst prison for women" in Iran due to its "inhumane medical and psychological conditions" by the Iran Human Rights Monitor.
Fatemeh was paraded on state-run Iranian TV after her release in December 2020, which is the last-known public sighting of her.
Iranian activist Masih Alinejad helped publicise the case - even begging Jolie herself to step in - and tweeted at the time: “Today Iranian teenager who posted heavily distorted images of herself online and was jailed for 10 years has been freed after massive media pressure."
