- The daughter of Lynette Hooker, a US national from Michigan who disappeared in the Bahamas on April 4, says her disappearance “doesn’t add up.”
- Lynette Hooker was traveling with her husband, Brian, between Hope Town and Elbow Cay when she reportedly fell from their 8ft dinghy with the boat keys. Her husband said the engine shut off, and she was swept away by a strong current, prompting a large-scale search operation.
- “She loves exploring,” her daughter Karli Aylesworth told CNN. “They’ve always wanted to sail the Bahamas, and so now they finally did it.” She added, “It just doesn’t add up why she was swimming away from the boat or why she had the keys.”
- Aylesworth said the family’s hope that Hooker will be found alive is fading: “The more time that goes on, the more I disbelieve that she will come back alive. I don’t think you can tread water for that long. But I hope maybe she’s on a little island somewhere.”
- Authorities, including the Royal Bahamas Police Force and US Coast Guard, launched a search, with officials currently not suspecting foul play but rather attributing the incident to poor decisions given the challenging night-time conditions.
