A young Indian man died mysteriously, a young couple lost a 300,000-baht diamond engagement ring and there was an attempted break-in at a woman DJ’s hotel room - all during the three-day Electric Daisy Carnival music festival in Phuket.

Police said a 26-year-old Indian man was pronounced dead at Thalang Hospital in Thalang district on Saturday night.

Witnesses said the man visited the Electric Daisy Carnival. Afterwards, he seemed to have lost control of himself and damaged property on Bandon-Choeng Thale Road.

Rescuers took him to Thalang Hospital, where he went into shock and died. His body was sent to Vachira Phuket Hospital to find the cause of death.

Facebook user Acare Alice sought help via social media after she and her boyfriend lost a valuable diamond ring and other items at the music festival on Saturday night.

She said while they were there her boyfriend received a short message advising him he had charged about 300,000 baht to his credit card.

A quick check found that the zip of his chest bag was open and a Louis Vuitton wallet was missing, along with his credit cards, 2,500 baht cash and a diamond ring worth about 300,000 baht.

Acare said that her boyfriend had taken the ring to the music venue because he planned to surprise her with a proposal of marriage while they were there.

In the third case, DJ Mirinda Nalinrattanawadee wrote on Facebook on Saturday that she and her friends were in Phuket for the three-day music festival, but she stayed in her hotel room alone because she fell ill on Friday.

While she was resting in her bed the doorbell rang. As she approached the door a key was used to unlock it. Fortunately, she said, the door latch kept the stranger outside.

On Sunday police arrested a 39-year-old security guard of the hotel who was seen in its CCTV footage trying to break into the DJ's room.

The guard erased the footage that recorded his crime but police managed to recover it and identify him.
