Mystery as teacher vanishes after telling husband she was 'going to get something to eat'

Footage has been discovered of a missing teacher after her car was found more than 350 miles from her home in Texas, but there is still no sign of her.

The hunt is continuing for Michelle Reynolds, 48, who has not been seen for six days, since September 22, after she left her home in Brazoria County, Texas, saying she was going out to get some food.

A Lexus geolocation device helped to find her car hundreds of miles away in New Orleans two days later, and while her personal belongings were inside, there was no sign of Ms Reynolds.

Her husband, Michael Reynolds, reportedly said that their three children are having a “really tough” time without knowing what has happened to her.

Ms Reynolds is a teacher at Fairview Junior High in Alvin Independent School District which is 25 miles from Houston.

"Our investigators are following all leads," Brazoria County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Danny Lares tells PEOPLE, while saying that it was her husband who had reported Ms Reynolds missing.

He added: "They are trying to verify if she has been in contact with anybody and following leads and seeing where it takes them."

But now video footage from a New Orleans business shows her on Friday parking her car and walking off.

"We did get surveillance of her actually parking her car on Saint Peters Street at 12:01 pm Friday afternoon and then kind of what direction she was walking. Saint Peters Street is pretty close to the Mississippi River," said Tim Miller ofTexas EquuSearch, reported Fox26 Houston.

A helicopter search has since taken place along the banks of the Mississippi and the river with fears raised that she may be confused or mentally unwell.

Mr Reynolds spoke of the shock after she went missing having gone out on what appeared to be a regular trip to the shops.

"She said that she was going to get something to eat and she never returned," he told KHOU-11.

After finding the car in New Orleans, Mr Reynolds said that her phone was in the vehicle and had not been used.

"We were able to unlock the car and found that her personal items were still in the vehicle but she was not in the vehicle," Michael said, according to KHOU-11. "Her phone has not been used. Her phone was in the car. Her phone did have charge but it was turned off."

He added: “We miss her and miss her dearly. We’re doing everything we can to bring her home safe.”

Reynolds is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall with a slim build.
